Jamokie's Page
Many of you have been told not to sleep with your bird, watch for your bird on
the floor, etc. This is true testimony to that fact. Jamokie was my best
friend/companion. I, having had a bad day, grabbed a book and a blanket and
went to my living room couch late one night not being able to sleep. Jamokie
woke up  so I got her up with me and brought her out onto the couch as well.
She played  at the foot of the couch above and below the blanket with my toes
while I read. Eventually I fell asleep. It wasn't good. In my stressed out condition
of the previous day I tossed and turned on the couch. To my horror, I woke
finding my precious girl dead at my feet. Believe me when I tell you that people
aren't making things up when they tell you NOT to sleep with your birds or NOT
to do certain things even when you insist that MY bird won't get hurt because I
don't move in my sleep or MY bird doesn't need its wings clipped 'cause SHE
would NEVER fly away. I hear this all the time people and it only takes ONCE
and it happens to the best of us. These precautions are for your hearts protection
as much as your companions, so don't throw it away. Accidents DO happen
even if you've done something 99 times without anything ever happening before.
Don't Ever:
--Sleep with your bird
--Go outside with unclipped wings
--bring your bird around potentially ill birds
--drive in a vehicle without your bird secured in an approved carrier
--leave your bird uncaged unsupervised
--allow your bird free roam in your house
--leave wires accesible your bird may chew on
--cook or bake with your bird in the kitchen with you
and many more....
