Poisoning
The signs that are often related to signs of poisoning are also the same
signs as many diseases. Please don't assume that the signs of poisoning is
a confirmation of poisoning. It is always possible that the signs are not in fact
poisoning, but rather another disease or problem. With that said, ALWAYS
consult your avian vet if you see any of the signs below and suspect
poisoning as the culprit. The signs to watch for are bloody droppings, sudden
regurgitation, diarrhea, coughing, breathing problems and/or depression,
burns or redness around the beak, shock, convulsions, and paralysis.

1. Determine what and how much was eaten

2. Call Vet and poison control & follow advice -Try to get to a vet within 30
minutes or sooner

3. If advised give Kaopectate, Peptobismol, Milk of Mag(1cc/100 grams body
weight)

4.If advised give the bird mineral oil (about 4 drops per cockatiel sized bird) or
peanut butter and Metamucil to help the substance move through the GI tract
faster Mix Metamucil according to label  and give 1/4 teaspoon and 1/4 teaspoon
peanut butter per cockatiel sized bird

5.If advised give the bird crushed activated aquarium charcoal mixed with milk of
magnesia (1 teaspoon charcoal mixed with 10cc milk of magnesia) administer it
1/4 teaspoon per cockatiel sized bird
